Hog hunting rifle

Never been hog hunting. Will be in Boggy Slough in Texas and up in deer stands. What is a lower end rifle that can get the job done? I won't be going very often so don't need anything fancy but don't want to show up empty handed.

Any centerfire rifle that has a bullet come out the end of the barrel when you pull the trigger.
H&R Handi-Rifle 300blk out

I have always loved the Mossberg MVP series. Never shot one nor read a single review, but love them nonetheless.

Shotgun for birds...love teal and big duck and a hand gun for home. Not much of a deer hunter so no rifle. Sad I know.
Imi figures I won't be shooting further than 125 yards max for hogs so just looking for something reliable and cheap.
My dad has a browning 30-06 but it's a lefty. I could use it in a pinch, but want to slowly get into so Id like to get something for myself.

The restrictions may determine some of this (and they're aren't many in Louisiana for example) - but 30 caliberish is the way to go - any bolt gun in .308, 7mm, 30-06, etc.. If the ranges will be 150 and under, a lever action 30-30 might fit the bill, nicely.
Or, get into a "budget" AR-10, but I think that's probably more than what you want to spend.

gotcha.. was just checking. And as poster noted above several good rounds. A marlin 30-30 would be nice and not break the bank, and makes a good deer rifle with cheap easy to find ammo. But if you can even go cheaper with a savage axis in 270, 30-06, 308 for about $275.

According to what you want to do. When I shoot hogs from the deer stand, I try to kill and wound as many as possible. I carry a pump .308 and can empty it pretty quick. Creates a lot of carnage, but that's the idea. Not for the faint.
Now if you're hog hunting for sport, i.e. Pigman show, get something really cool like an AR15 style, with a super night sight illuminated scope. He usually only shoots one, but could get multiples if he wanted.
Any centerfire rifle will be deadly on a stinking hog.

And I believe this is true, but hogs have the potential to injure/kill you - so, at ground level, I would stick with 30 caliber and above, to make certain I could stop them in time to do some good - I would also go with a rapid firing weapon if I expected to face one or more hogs unexpectedly.

A marlin .30-30 would be perfect for inside of 150 yard hog blasting

Some friends and I go on a night hog hunting trip every year. The guy we go with is decked out with a night vision scope, IR light, Thermal monocular and suppressor. We walk up to about 50 yds from the hogs and shoot them with a .223 and they drop like a sack of potatoes.

Review of the dad gum year

In all seriousness, I looked them up and they are not bad guns. I like the fact that they offer a gazillion (I rounded up) barrel configurations and that they take AR mags (I have half gazillion of those).
They come in .223 and .308 flavors too.
I was pretty convinced that I wanted a .22-250 Ruger, but now I am questioning myself (only I can do that).

I agree 100%.
I found this Ruger American for $375. Comes with a threaded barrel and factory scope mount. Not as tactical as the other bolt action due to lack of Pmags though.

the ruger american is a fine rifle for the price.
back to your mossberg, i wish i knew someone who has used them to see how they were. They actually look nice, but im not going to be the tester! Alot of people hate on mossberg shotguns but i have an old 835 ulti mag that has been bad arse for me for shooting birds. i

Do you know where they hunt or who they use?
