Jalen Collins was told to stay in school when he submitted his name to the NFL Advisory Committee. Now he is projected to be drafted high....possibly in the 1st round.

I am wondering if this will affect future juniors' decision that are told to stay in school. LSU somewhat stemmed the tide from juniors leaving early this year and I was hoping the trend would continue in the future. LSU could point to the several other juniors that left early but did not get drafted or was disappointed in their draft position. But Jalen Collins may hurt that argument.

Can you link me to that?

All year I've been seeing him projected by analysts as getting drafted in the first two rounds dating back to the summer

It is reported in the Morning Advocate. Maybe it was a mistake on my part to believe the Advocate.

May. Lets wait until the draft actually happens.

Every situation is different. The other Collins who will be taken in round 1 stayed all 4 years and earned himself more money in the process.

Ultimately, there's no blueprint to follow. Every player has to act in his own best interest.

I think he's unique because he was getting first round mocks a year ago. I think a lot of people saw the physical tools but he was just always stuck behind better guys.

What puts him into first round today 4.5 or 4.4 forty?

Everthing I've heard says second round, but they may have suggested he come back because another good year would make him a definite 1st. His stock has increased anyway in a CB class that doesn't appear very strong. He does well at the combine, he may lock himself as a first rounder today. He has the film from last year.

The whole thing with him is his potential because he gave up a lot of plays last year especially getting beat to the inside and in comebacks

I'll be shocked if he's in the first 50 picks. I'm not saying it won't happen, because I've seen NFL teams do stupid stuff before.

jalen Collins will go in first round. teams need big, physical corners. nfl has been looking at him since last year. jalen stayed at LSU for 4 years and that's the key. most guys should stay 4 years and you can't ask a guy to stay any longer unless he has been injured.

Marques Colston was told he would be a 2nd round pick. This happens to players every year.

I think he runs at least a 4.5...he ran Gordon down from behind in the Wiscy game (unless of course that was when gordon got nicked up)

Collins made the choice that was right for him. The staff seemed to favor Rashard Robinson despite all of his issues. It is possible that Collins would have sat again behind Robinson. Personally I see him as a safety. He has good speed and is a good tackler.

He's gonna destroy the 40. But it's dumb because he has poor ball skills and average coverage ability. But he is 6'2 and can fly, guess that is all that matters

great assessment for a guy who played on and off the bench.
