Anybody seen this movie? Is it any good? I assuming it is since it's getting nominated in nearly every award. Also how was Eddie Redmayne's performance? He did win the Golden Globe and is the favorite for the Oscar in Best Actor so I guess he did very well. What's everybody's thoughts on it?

It was awesome I loved it. I didn't know he wrote his dissertation on one theory then spent his life disproving it

His performance was fantastic as Hawking, I'd be totally on board with him taking home the Oscar. The film was more about his wife and his ALS than his genius, though. Kind of like A Beautiful Mind, minus the mind part.

It was great. Really makes you empathize with his wife.

Watched it last night and thought it was really good. Hard to believe that was Eddie Redmayne after first seeing him in Jupiter Ascending

Eddie Redmayne's performance was great and definitely Oscar worthy but as far as the movie I was a little let down. I guess I expected it to be more than just primarily focused on his disease and his relationship with his wife. I wanted more about his work. It was good for what it was. I just went in with the wrong expectations

I thought it was ok. I don't think it deserves to win an Oscar, but it probably will, afterall it's got a handicapped main character.
Redmayne gave a great performance though, which is especially impressive considering his past work, which has been pretty mediocre.
The plot overall was pretty meh to me. It's basically just a romance movie. It's basically one step above a chick flick to me.
I thought The Imitation Game was a much better film and should win the Oscar but probably won't.
