For example just from today's games. Evertons first goal went through two peoples legs, no way in hell he meant to do that he just kicked it and got lucky. Again with atsus cross through the legs. And then a lucky deflection off a defender for an OG.

Yesterday in the man u game the winner hit off Gomis but still some how stayed on target and kept its pace to score. That ball could have gone anywhere.

There are countless examples in every single game

I dont know why I even typed this but yeah

All of those instances you described would have been completely different if the ball had been mere inches away, in one direction or the other.

Soccer is a game of feet not hands.

While you are right, ultimately, the teams that create the most chances have more opportunities to be "lucky."

Yeah you gotta be good to be lucky.

Maybe you have to be lucky to be good

So, in summary, you're confirming that if you don't fire shots at the net, you probably won't score

I have absolutely no dog in the fight here, and I just started watching EPL last year. One thing that has stuck out to me is how judgement decisions affect the outcome of games more than other sports (seemingly). For example, the Liverpool-Southhampton game: Was the 4' minute contact a PK? Most seem to think it was, and that would have changed the entire flow of the game. Additionally, was Mingolet outside of the box with the hand ball? If the refs call that, Liverpool is down a man with a back-up keeper.

For another example, see Chelsea versus Burnley. The issue with soccer is there are relatively few goal-scoring opportunities, and so many are in the hands of 50-50 judgment calls; if they go against you it is a conspiracy, if they go for you it is good fortune.

Yes.

Upgrade.

In all seriousness, I think replay needs to be implemented for important calls. Penalties, offside calls (especially when they are called after the ball is in the net), etc.

Would replays for penalties make sense though? Seems like a slippery slope for judgement calls but might be good if the ref misses something incredibly obvious.

For stuff like offsides I have no idea why they wouldn't use replay from a booth and then just have them radio down the call.

The amount of goals that go through a players legs is actually ridiculously high

Unlike Basketball, Football, Basesball, I guess, a team can be thoroughly outplayed and still win.

I've never really bought the judgment call argument. We can make better judgements after seeing replays. Think of all of the straight forward calls officials miss live in all sports. But for some reason "judgement" calls should only be made live.

Yeah I would be inclined to agree with you, but slow motion distorts a lot of contact.
