Anyone here have experience quitting dip. I decided to quit a few days ago and its been a pain. I feel like I've spent the last two days arguing with myself about going to the store and buying a can. How long do the cravings last?

I actually tried to quit yesterday. Bought three bags of sunflower seeds and made it about 17 hours before I caved. I need and want to quit but I guess I'm a weak, weak man

I quit for 2 months. Couldn't take it. The key is to keep your mouth busy. Try this if your serious. Get Grinds
Taste good and feels like having a pinch in. Good luck

I quit years ago after getting mouth ulcers. It wasn't that bad. The cravings went away in a few days. For about a year I would want one after a good meal, but that was just habit. Thinking about taking dip almost nauseates me now. Go for it. Nobody ever regrets quitting tobacco.

Why do people like dipping after a good meal?

Same reason people enjoy a smoke after a good meal or sex. I enjoy it while sitting on the toilet as well

Sunflower seeds and chewing tough beef jerky help cravings

33 days and counting. Started dip in April '01, used a can every day for the past 10 years or so. It ain't easy, but can be done. The first 5-6 days were pretty rough.
Atomic Fireballs, Hot Tamales, cinnamon TicTacs...that's the only way I made it through.

Well it does and did for me, but thanks for the input. I understand this is complicated and tough to understand, but different approaches help different people deal with addictions.

Thanks for the advice. Anyone have success with herbal snuff? I tried the smokey mountain snuff and its too damn sweet.

Quit at the end of November. Woke up one day and threw my full can away. Got through the remainder of hunting season and I'm on my second shut down still going strong. Seeds help, but it's no substitute. You have to really want to. I still get cravings and when I go into a gas station, I'm tempted to buy a can. It's mind over matter. If you really want to quit, you'll get over the cravings. I had bad acid reflux problems for 6 years and I haven't used a tums since I quit. That's my motivation now.

Just use chantix, it really does work. Makes you not even want it. I used it for smoking, but I've known several use it for dipping

You must have not read the thread, seeds don't help so you must be lying

Wow, dipping after sex lol. I'm sure it happens, just seems weird

chantix is the gum right? If so, that stuff gave me terrible acid reflux. Worse than dip itself. Glad it worked for you though

Chantix is a pill, not gum
