Thinking about putting in one of those coolers that goes inside your pump.
Suppose to drop water temp 10 degrees in 10-12 hours.

Runs about 3k.

Just wondering if it's worth the money and if it actually makes a difference.

does your pool water get that hot that you have cool it off?

How many days last year did you want to use your pool, but said it's too hot to use? Multiply that by 5, then divide 3k by that number. That's your price per day over the next 5 years to use the pool those extra days. Now if it worked as a heater also, then it might be worth it.

My in-law's pool is in direct sunlight all day, every day, and seldom gets so hot that it is uncomfortable.

We were considering the same but found a $50 pool fountain that helps circulate the water and keeps it cool enough during the really hot parts of the summer. We only run it then. Works much better than expected.

also helps evaporate the chemicals in the pool quicker.

I put crushed ice in my 30k gallon pool, but I understand chemistry and physics better than the average human.

For that price you can get a heat pump for it that will also heat the water for the cool months.

We did this. Best money spent. We use the pool 9 months out of the year. It's awesome!
