As of Aug. 1, 2014, LSU became a tobacco-free campus and has been designated a "wellspot" by the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals for the changes our campus has made. LSU is committed to making it easier for citizens to live well, to providing more health and fitness programs, to healthier food options and to the tobacco-free policy.

Unfortunately, there have been problems in certain areas of campus that have prompted complaints that people are still using tobacco products. Due to the continued noncompliance with university policy by some individuals, we have decided to implement stricter enforcement measures. As such, we ask all members of the LSU community to share the responsibility for enforcement by addressing those not complying with the policy.

First-time-offenders will receive a warning, but any subsequent offense will be referred to the appropriate office – students will be referred to Student Advocacy & Accountability and employees will be referred to Human Resource Management.

We appreciate the cooperation of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors who have embraced these changes to help us move toward a healthier environment for LSU.
