Per TMZ:
quote:

Harris Wittels, one of the executive producers of "Parks and Recreation" died at his home Thursday from a possible drug overdose ... TMZ has learned.
According to law enforcement sources ... Wittels was pronounced dead around 1 PM. We're told the 30-year-old was found lying on his couch ... and there was drug paraphernalia in the house. There were no signs of trauma to his body.
Wittels spoke openly about his battles with drug addiction. He'd gone to rehab twice.
In addition to working on 'Parks & Rec' ... Wittels produced and wrote for "Eastbound and Down" and "The Sarah Silverman Program." He's also credited with making "Humblebrag," a thing on social media ... and even turned it into a coffee table book.
'Parks & Rec' is in its final season, and the last episode is set to air next week.
Wittels performed stand-up Wednesday night at The Meltdown -- an L.A.comedy theater. During his set he talked being clean and sober ... and said he was in a good place.

He was also, in my opinion, one of the show's best minor characters. He wasn't on a lot, but he always made me laugh.

That sucks. Dude was so hilarious. I listened to a podcast a while back that he was a guest on and he discussed his past as a drug abuser at length. He said he'd often show up to work at Parks & Rec after a two week heroin bender and just get back into the daily grind.

He had a really awesome story about dating a scientologist whose family tried to get him to join and go through the church's rehab.

Maybe he should've taken them up on it.

Maybe. It was actually an interesting conversation about how it was no different than any true rehab experience. He thought the church was interested in him because he was a writer/comedian in Hollywood and had the potential to be big.

This really bums me out. I really enjoyed his comedic perspective on things. Some of the hardest times I have laughed was listening to him and Scott Aukerman on the Comedy Bang Bang and Analyze Phish podcasts.

Aziz Ansari wrote about Harris on his blog. Pretty funny/touching stuff. I had no idea who the dude even was, but I thought this was nice.
