Never owned anything apple, nor been in an apple store so i'm pretty ignorant to it's operations.

The computer boots up for about 4 seconds and then shuts off again. That's why the files cant be transferred personally.

Yes, but I'd probably make an appointment on the website before just bringing it in.

Depends on how old it is. They only fool with machines 2-3 years old. Otherwise they send you to service providers. Best place around is this place.

Any idea what model Mac it is? Laptop or desktop?

For some Macs, the hard drive is a part replaceable by the end user. All you'd have to do is take the hard drive out and pop it into an enclosure to turn it into an external hard drive. Then you can just plug it into any other Mac and transfer the files off.

Naw not sure about the model #. I'd have to go back over there and look at it. It's a desktop and it's pretty old but that's all i know.

yea, you can just put the hard drive in an enclosure and get everything off of it that way.

I never had one client that actually went to the Mac store and got data off of a drive from a failed Mac. They just say no, or "how about 10% off our brand new $1500 laptops". Good luck.

Mac users don't know how to do any of that.
