I'm on the "Ross Dellenger is a hack" bandwagon after reading this lead...

I typically don't like to trash the journalists around here, even Guilbeau, but damn if Dellenger doesn't have a corn cob up his arse.
LSU loses a mid-week game in February to Nicholls State and the game story starts with this sentence:
So that is your lead? Really? What shitty journalism. What does that have to do with the game that took place? Why stick that at the top of your game story?
The Advocate should be embarrassed to employ someone who has such a lack of basic journalistic common sense.
Game story from last night's baseball game
LSU loses a mid-week game in February to Nicholls State and the game story starts with this sentence:

They have polls in February don't they? And they take into account mid week games. What's hard to understand?

They lost to Nicholls St. for christ sake. I don't care if its Feb and a midweek game. LSU is expected to win those games 95% of the time.

It is very hackish, to be sure. It's also par for the course. But it helps to have lower expectations of small-market beat writers on deadline.
Game recap stories hardly ever add insight to the event. The quotes are canned, the analysis superficial. I don't read it.
I say this as a Manship grad and former journalist. I appreciate their work because it's pretty thankless and you catch shite from anonymous nobodies, but at the same time there is a very low talent threshold to get a job like that.
