Would you be happy with an NIT championship?

Any postseason at this point is a good thing. Would take a minor miracle for this team to get into the Dance.

I'm certainly not ready for nor accepting of "Wait til next year" (we've been there, done that), but there's still a lot this year that the program can build on for next year.

I'd be happy with an NIT birth, and ecstatic over an NIT title. What say you?

It'd be pretty cool to win the NIT but I'd still be pissed we were there in the first place. This team missing the tournament would be a huge underachievement.

Id take whatever. Hopefully we sneak in the Tourney. Or atleast get a one seed in the NIT to get some more home games.

I'd like to see the team get some postseason experience to build toward next year.

But from a "happy" standpoint, I'd equate the NIT to winning a mid-tier SEC bowl game. Doesn't really excite me.

it's one of the most worthless titles in sports. Hey, 64 teams were better than you but your the 65th best team so here's a trophy.

I'd rather make the tourney and lose the first game by 20 than win the NIT.

I think we'd all be disappointed on missing out on the NCAA, since this team has shown lots of potential and has been throwing it away with bad losses. Given that we're in the NIT though, we might as well win it. I wouldn't call myself ecstatic if we do, but I'd be pretty happy with an NIT title, it's still good tournament experience for next year.

Sure. NIT is no different from a mid-level bowl game. Anyone who thinks we're too good for the NIT must have felt we should have turned down the Music City Bowl.

And quite frankly, all of this "65th best" or 69th best stuff is silly as long as the SWAC and MEAC and others get automatic bids.

Plus, the boys would get a kick out of spending sometime in New York and playing at Madison Square Garden. My dad and I went in 1990 when Vanderbilt beat St Louis and it was pretty fun.

Thanks for chiming in, errbody. Looking over yall's responses, "happy" and "ecstatic" may be overestimating my reaction. I'd be slightly ticked if we only made the NIT, but, strangely, I'd be pleased if we won it. Frustrated and disappointed would be how I'd sum up this season no matter what happens. I'm just trying to find some positives at this point.

Regardless, JJ and Co are giving this entire fan base a world-class case of blue balls.

Ok, here's a trophy for being the 55th best team in the country.
Sure i'd want them to win it since we are in it, but i'd have no pride at all if we won it, and would be embarrassed to have that banner in the PMAC.

I'd rather play Michigan State, or Duke, or Kansas, or North Carolina in the regular season and win that game than win the NIT.

that's stupid. You think the MEAC, SWAC or some of these other conference champs are better than the #1 NIT team?

It'd be like football: "it's better to be in any bowl than no bowl."
Anything less than the NCAA would be a disappointment.

Personally?...no.

If we fail to make the NCAA tournament, the season is over for me.

If this were a "rebuilding" year I would possibly watch. Unfortunately we've wasted too many opportunities this season. The unforced turnovers, poor usage of timeouts, poor FT shooting, horrible shot selection, and lack of discipline have diminished our chances for a great season.

It's just about time for me to switch my focus to baseball. I'm still hoping for a late season or conference tourney run but have no desire to watch the NIT.

I though, prior to the season, that LSU would be a solid NIT team in March. Hoped I would be wrong but that does seem to be where they're headed.

If that is the case, then yes, I want a championship

I can see both sides here. The NCAA should always be the goal of the LSU basketball program. Hell, it should be an almost given that LSU is one of the 64 best teams in the country. Anything else, including an NIT bid is disappointing.

On the other side of the coin, an NIT championship, and it has to be a championship, would provide much better springboard going into the 2015-16 season than a one and done in the NCAA.
