What seems to be the reason that lsu doesnt have as many early enrollees as other schools? I believe this year we have 4 where most of our rivals have around 7. And last year we fidnt have alot either? Is it just that these kids want to finish high school? I noticed tennessee has had 24 early enrollees in the last 2 years. Thats absurd.

Some of it is spots in the roster available, some are Jucos and some kids taken by schools because they are early entries whereas if they weren't they wouldn't have been taken, particularly in Tennessee's case. Without early enrollees Tennessee would be lacking significant numbers on the 85. They took some kids they ordinarily wouldn't have because the 85 was so short. They had almost 2 full classes lost to attrition in the past 5 years. That's crazy.

One reason might be that a third of our class signed after December. But I agree, we need to be taking advantage if this.

Someone please explain to me how someone can graduate early from high school......its not like most football players are Mensa prospects?

ETA: I am not trying to be negative with Mensa comment.

You don't need 4 years of credits in every course to graduate and enroll. Take a look at LSU's course requirements, several categories where you need just 3 years of credits.

EDIT- well nevermind, looks like things have changed since I was there

I didn't consider summer school, but it is possible for kids to graduate early.

Some schools have ins with the guidance counselors and ways to get a student to enroll early.

Early enrollees are key though. They definately seem to have a leg up on the competition in the summer when camp opens.

What does that even mean?

Pretty sure it has a lot to do with Louisiana's state requirements. Looking back to 2012 there were 17 early enrollees (according to 247) and 12 of them came from out of state. Of the 5 guys who came from in state I believe that all of the came from public schools. So it seems like it is even more difficult to get in state guys early since there are so many private schools in Louisiana.
