Very interesting video.
Cliffs:
1. Russia, Canada, UK, Greenland and Antarctica are not as big as they look
2. Shapes of Canada, UK are hopelessly messed up
3. Africa is BIG....very BIG

That's a recent phenomenon. It's been swelling since the early nineties due to the AIDS.

Never trust a map?
Never trust an American school system if we have failed enough people to not know this information.
that said, it's a well put together video

Eh, the inherent cartographic flaw of trying to flatten a sphere onto a sheet of paper is more to blame than anything.
Even if you know that Africa is several times larger than Greenland, seeing the distorted version of the latter over and over again causes you to subconsciously assume them to be similar in size.
Enjoyed the vid, OP

My son once suggested in his class that Columbus did not "discover" America.....that it had been inhabited by Native Americans for quite some time before he arrived, and his teacher got all up in arms about it.
