It's well known Calvary probably lags well behind magnet, byrd, and shreve in academics. Yes they have a nice athletic program going right now but I know of several friends who have kids at Calvary because they weren't up to the other schools curriculum. Calvary wasn't a destination 15-20 years ago for high school students and i would never send my kids there due to better academic programs elsewhere. From what I've heard the Patterson kid seems like a good kid and hopefully he will be successful (other than against Lsu I course) but that doesn't change the perception of Calvary as a predominantly athletic oriented school much like evangel of the 90's and 2000's.

Calvary has had a high school only for about 10 years. They didn't have a high school 15-20 years ago as was stated above. Calvary had a high school from around 1970-1986/87.

Bye shea-licia. He gone. Tigerbait. Come on down franks. Like billy gomilla said in his article. I want the 6'5" kid with the frame to run at 235 and tons of pro potential. He already plays under center, good arm strength, can run very well when he needs to, and I believe he will be a star

I know this. I was coaching when the Bootys made the switch and had Calvary Baptist up and running. I'm confused why you replied to me with this comment though.

calvary baptist question

Im happy we have a kid that wants to be here

32,
You just summed up the entire Shea Patterson recruitment soap opera in a few words.
IMO, Patterson was never a true Tiger fan.

You mean to tell me that - knowing we have Cam Cameron and have signed a bevy of top rated receivers in the past couple of years and this year; and that Cameron has had success in the past with Mettenberger; and Miles with Russell and Flynn - all that's not good enough for him ?????
If he was a true Tiger, he would have committed anyway, no matter WHO had already committed. If he truly had confidence and was the #1 QB and #3 recrut in in the entire country, he wouldn't be afraid of competition!
Then he says he's "recruiting for Ole Miss."

That's not an LSU fan....sorry. He's tiger bait through and through.

Welcome Franks - YOU are a true Tiger...

It's so frustrating to have a fan base full of people with little man syndrome. The second a big time recruit goes elsewhere, people feel the need to down play that players talent. Why even go there? Franks is our guy, why can't that ever be enough for some of you people.

Calvary is huge on academics along with Athletics there football team averages a 3.2gpa

There are total illiterates at Green Oaks with a higher GPA.

Easy question... How many National Merit Scholars have graduated from Calvary in the history of the school? Answer: Zero.

But don't feel bad. How many National Merit Scholars graduated from Evangel? One. It was a girl....about 15 years ago. So, she didn't play football.

Those two schools are HORRIBLE academically.

I went to elementary school at Calvary, and was eventually NM, does that count, lol.
Seriously though, some really good people involved in that school and church. I wouldn't hesitate to have my son their if I lived in Shreveport. Loyola, Caddo Magnet, Byrd and Calvary would all be ok, each with different positives. Dr Step Martin Lauderdale the law down on me a few times, it worked well lol

He's from Texas and was recruited to Calvary and it's the reason they split the public and private schools.

John Curtis is the reason for the initial issues, not Calvary. Fact.

i would challenge you to find many teams that competed and won a state championship game with a higher gpa in the state of louisiana.

go ahead get you some of that.

and FWIW nobody at green oaks has made a 3.2 gpa in atleast 20 plus years.

dumbarse is wrote on your forehead if you believe shea patterson being recruited to Calvary was the reason they seperetaed private and public schools.

he was not recruited thats where he choose to go and his parents gladly pay his full tuition every month.

public schools got tired of that arse getting whipped in state championships every year by JC plain and simple as that because in public school they want everyone too have a damn participatiopn trophy.

Name calling not so necessary, especially when your last paragraph shows anyone in the know, that you don't know that much either.
I'll back your 1st part up,but that part is full of fail. Remind me how many years JC elected to play in the highest and toughest classification? That part is long overdue and finally coming, just 20 years too late

Grades don't tell you anything about the quality of education. Grade inflation is worse at some schools than others
