After having stopped here a few times on my way home from work (when a draft beer is a much better option than sitting in traffic)

Positives:

Best beer selection downtown

Opens 3PM so it's a viable happy hour option for downtown workers who get off early

Interior is comfortable, I like the couches. A handful of TV's but not overwhelming

Better than 3rd Street Pub and Punchers at that location

Negatives

(Biggest negative) Bar not staffed with people that know beer. Asking for a recommendation there isn't going to get you very far.

Their daily specials are on Fireball and Irish Carbombs, which is ok on Friday and Saturday night (given that it is 3rd st) but doesn't make much sense for a craft beer bar during the week.

The beer knowledge of the bar staff needs to improve (this one is worth repeating)

They have a descriptive menu of the beer selection.

Try another line of questioning when hitting on the bartender

Geez, I hope like hell you're saying this as a poster and not as an employee there.

Knowledge of the beer at a beer bar is very important. I understand that it is the service industry and there probably isn't a plethora of people knowledgable about beer that also happen to be bartenders, but basic knowledge should absolutely be required before you can start bartending.

A descriptive menu won't help the dude who says, "I want something like a Blue Moon" because he doesn't know what to look for when it comes to style and taste.

I've had some completely different experiences. One was with a bartender who knew her beer. She was great. Another time, a different bartender was virtually clueless. Granted, I don't really need recommendations from a bartender, but it's nice to have someone who knows their stuff.

Regardless, it's far and away the best place to get a beer downtown. I hope it makes it.
