Just looking to see if anyone has owned one or both and can give comparisons. Wife and I are going on a cruise later this summer and want to purchase one for when we go snorkeling, etc.

Wife got me a hero silver 4 for Christmas. Don't have the heart to tell her I really don't care for it. Personally I'd just rent one from the cruise line unless you're gonna use it a lot otherwise.

I've got the Hero 4 Black and like it. I usually buy the best even when its not necessary though. 
It'll be outdated in less than a year I'm sure.

Yea, I would essentially turn it into my drag camera when I take the pony out to the strip. However, it would be cool just to have one for random situations. I mean the things that can be captured with one of those is endless.
