People say it's all about the short game, but since I switched to a stiff shaft driver a while back, my scores have really improved. Easier to have a 100 yard approach shot than 150-160.

What's your average drive and associated handicap?

270/+15

My handicap is my drive distance.

You average 270 and are a 15?

That seems out of wack.

I have no idea my average drive but I play from the back tees and last held a 5. It's not all about the short game but its hugely important. I can't keep it on the course with the driver but have a good short game.

If im in play I'm in the 70s. If not...Low to mid 80s.

it's not that far from believable. he probably struggles with his short iron game. I've been really struggling out of the fairway for probably 6 months now. I average 260-270 off the tee and I've gone from a 10(very very close to single digits) a year ago to a 13 now

I'm typically upper 80s. My short game sucks, however if I go on streaks of playing a lot it gets a lot better.

If I could hit the ball straight I could average 280-300yds on a drive. When I get hold to the ball, and hit it straight I can just hit it a long way. But my swing is erratic, and I have a bad slice. I don't know if it's the shaft or the swing. I am pretty sure its the swing.

With spring approaching, and the weather that we've had lately, you shouldn't be surprised.

Meh, it depends how your game stacks up. to a degree drive for show putt for dough is correct......if you are a good scrambler. If you don't have the game to scramble from rough to score, then you need to put the ball in play and be long.

I'd say I avg. 270 ish, but my accuracy is pretty low. I am a good scrambler though and often par from missed fairways, so scores in the 70's low 80's are the norm

Bottom line is anyone in the single digits is good at all aspects of the game, but maybe a little better at some than others.

What you're talking about is scoring. For instance, I'm more consistent with a full PW than my 54, so I'm gonna try and put the ball in position to hit the PW on approach no matter if I have to club down on the tee.

so your scores went down when you added 50-60 yards to your drive? No way!!!!
