Apple Watch next month. Rumored Apple TV in the fall. Now this - an Apple branded electric vehicle. The sky is the limit for this company.

You mean like computers and personal music players? They should definitely stay away from cell phones.

Unless I am reading the article wrong, Apple isn't doing what google is doing. Google is developing add ons to make driverless cars. They are using Toyotas and other vehicles and adding their proprietary gear to it.
Apple is talking about going the route of Tesla and building a car from the ground up.
Apples and Oranges
ETA: Now if Apple is going the route of Google and just developing add ons, then I don't disagree with them expanding by those means.

Yeah, because going from personal electronics to another personal device is the same thing as building a car

So is it a huge jump to go from personal electronic devices to electro-motive applications?
The way I read the article Apple is focusing on the electric drive aspect of the vehicle, not the entire vehicle. Developing and researching these parts is not a huge stretch for the company.
