Katy Texas. Who is reputable. We are looking at replacing. It is an 18 year old 5 ton Trane. Looking to replace condenser unit and upper unit/furnace.

What kind of money are we talking? 14 SIR/SEER? 16? 18? 22?

$5500-$11,218

Lots of variables.
Stages, uv sanitizing lights, zones, controls.

Get 3 quotes and referrals if possible. It's off season so you are in a sweet spot to get competitive quotes.

Anybody who won't run load calcs to properly size the unit and do a balance with an airflow meter after install should not be considered.

I would recommend a variable speed furnace and a single speed Trane XR16 compressor. Trane's 2 stage stage compressors are not all they are cracked up to be (claim to better dehumidify but many times do not).

Hope this helps.
