They're now a "lifestyle brand" that makes women's high heels.
I was looking to get another pair of ropers like the ones I bought a few years ago and was shocked that the prices have nearly doubled, and the selection online is uh, limited to either $600 ropers or exotic boots with commas in the price. Now I know why:

Lucchese is proud of its heritage. But the famed Texas bootmaker is out to prove that it can expand beyond premium western footwear.
The company, known for making expensive high-quality cowboy boots for presidents, celebrities, ranchers and urban cowboys for 130 years, recently launched a shoe collection that the gals of Sex and the City would covet. Included in the lineup are sexy sling-back pumps, flat sandals and stacked-heel stilettos in luxe exotic skins.

When I got my last pair classics ropers a few years ago they were all listed between 400-700, so I'm not sure what if anything has changed.
Those boots, while not my kinda thing, look pretty high quality. I could go for some Horween leather Lucchese drivers if they want to expand.

go to a cavendars and buy some 1883s
there is a Lucchese store near my office with nothing but $1000+ boots, even the plain brown leather ones were over 1000.
they do have a section in the back with a stack of exotic skins you can pick out to make your boots though. pretty cool to see all the gator and elephant hides.
eta: didn't click the links, this is the store i was talking about.

Now I see that they still make the 1883s and Classics - they just hide them on the site. I thought they did away with all that to focus on the super high-end stuff.
