Two of my credit cards have been compromised in the last 3 days. One was my Cabelas Visa card that is ONLY used for Cabelas.com purchases. The other is my Bank of America card that I use for most of my other online purchases. Coincidentally, both were used in the last 2 weeks to make purchases from Cabelas. Both were hit with bogus charges in the last 3 days.

Yeah, I typically use my Cabelas card to make BP purchases. I'm about to destroy them all though

Happened to me a couple weeks ago. Someone in Houston had apparently forged a copy of my card with the wrong exp. date, went to Walmart and Dave and Busters having a little fun. They said a file may have been compromised to allow this to happen, so I'm not surprised it happened to others.
They sent a new card, but I'm going to use the Cap One card from now on.

Did you notify Cabela's of the fraudulent activity?

They actually notified me of "suspicious activity" and asked if I had been to the Walmart or Dave & Busters in Houston. They caught it way before my next statement date and rejected the last of the four transactions, so I guess their fraud detection department is doing good work.
The fraudulent charges were reversed and the new card has a different account number.

Last deer season I went to Arkansas for the early doe week, bought my hunting licence at the Walmart sporting goods department and then went to the other side for some groceries. I wasn't finished shopping and they called about suspicious activity on my card at the Arkansas Walmart. I just laughed and told them to expect a lot of activity in AR over the next month or two.

Same thing happened to me this week. Cabelas Visa Card Club called and asked about some charges made in California. One for a online dating service and another for a florist (must have been a hard up romantic). They canceled my cards and are sending new ones. I was/am impressed by the effort of the fraud unit.

That gif is pretty much exactly how my daughter drove her Barbie Jeep.
