Shogun and no other rec is close

Shogun recently hired one of the top sushi chefs in the Western Hemisphere

Lol did someone really recommend mikimoto? Lol. I can understand someone who was stuck in 2007 recommending horinoya but mikimoto? That's buffet quality sushi

You're still trying to sell that nonsense? His sushi rice is shite. Dry, flavorless and straight out of an electronic rice cooker. Not to mention he focuses on non-traditional nigiri and sashimi dishes. Nowhere close to tops in the Western Hemisphere. If he was, he would have a place in LA or NY.

Horinoya, but you've got to be respectful, a regular, and appear to understand & appreciate what's going on.

Kanno, because the chef is friendly & enthusiastic. Show him some love and he will respond in kind.

My experiences at Shogun have always been ruined by 1)sushi was served on plastic/melamine dishes....abhorrent
2)a completely obnoxious patron. On two occasions, the SAME drunk arse man was talking too loud, randomly inserting himself into conversations at other tables, etc. I can see it happening once, and you 86 the guy. But when I come back a second time and he's there again? Tells me you tolerate his nonsense despite the discomfort of other patrons. No thanks.
