Coming in for a bachelor party at the end of March and want to play golf that Friday, so looking for suggestions. Preferably something 20-30 minutes or less from downton and well conditioned. TIA.

Lakewood
Audubon
Stonebridge
Bartholomew
City Park
Timberlane
Bayou Barriere
In that order, in my opinion. You can also play at English Turn for about $100/per but I have never played there.

I went to the Zurich in 2006 when it was at English Turn and it was nice, but I think I heard it had gone pretty downhill since?

Lakewood and Stonebridge are my favorites. Audubon is basically in the middle of the city but usually crowded. Can't go wrong with any of the three if you're just looking for a casual round.

The Turn is in good shape.

Drive to gheens, play LaTour, tell story for the rest of your life

I think around 06 is the last time I played there too. AT&T vendor tournament and it was the week after the Zurich. The grandstands and score updates were still up. Pretty cool hitting to the 18th green surrounded by grandstands.

La tour and ET are both in great shape.

I'd play English Turn if I could only pick 1. And no one has said TPC La yet. It's not my favorite course, but it's always in good shape.

Go to golfnow or golf18network before making any decisions. Ive gotten $45 at english turn on a weekend through those sites.

For a Bachelor Party round, Audubon Park is the perfect choice. Unless you 're playing the day you arrive, you'll be hung over. Audubon Park is really fun, always in great shape, in one of the coolest, prettiest settings for a golf course anywhere not on the Ocean or in the mountains. It feels like you're playing in a park in England. Green fee is what? $35 or $40? You'll hit every club in yor bag, have multiple chances to hit Par-5's in two, and drive the green on Par-4's. And you'll be back in your hotel getting ready for Burbon St while you'd still be nursing your hangover playing shite golf on the back nine any any of these other place. My golf league has played just about every good course in Louisiana for 8 years now... Audubon is the event we look forward to most every year. I'll be there on 3/15 and can't wait.

I agree, but don't lump la tour and ET into the list of shite.
Those are both primo tracks.
I like Audubon for the setting/surroundings as well. And their greens roll well.

No no... I meant they'd be playing like shite because they have hangovers from the debochery from the night before. I wasn't calling La Tour or ET shite.
Enjoy the drive through Uptown, get there early and have a Bloody Mary and a Poboy on the porch, and enjoy the 300 hundred year old Oak Trees, the gothic church steeple, and the hot broads wearing yoga pants on the walking track. You're welcome.

How slow is Audubon usually on a Friday afternoon? I think we would rather play a hungover 4 hr round at ET than a hungover 5.5 hr round at Audubon if those were our options...
