A few notes before I start:

1. This only takes into account 2015. Minor leaguers are of no value in these rankings. I did give Barry credit for Kris Bryant, since ESPN expects him to play a good deal in 2015.
2. I used ESPN projections for this, so if you dont like your ranking, blame ESPN or your drafting skillz.
3. I took the best player at each position, and the best bench bat to evaluate offenses.
4. I took the top 10 pitchers on each staff to evaluate pitching.

Here we go...

ESPN Projections:

Fantrax Projections:

Combined:

#20: Earl

Hitting Rank: 20th
Pitching Rank: 20th

Notes:
1. Obviously Earl is planning more for future championships than immediate ones.
2. Hitting: OBP is hurting him big time, as is SBs.
3. Pitching: ERA, WHIP, and K/9 are really bad. Above average bullpen.

#19: cwill

Hitting Rank: 19th
Pitching Rank: 16th

Notes:
1. Obviously cwill is thinking....actually, I have no idea what he's thinking.
2. Hitting: fairly pedestrian across the board, no steals to speak of.
3. Pitching: Should do OK in IP and QS, but the other categories are meh, especially the bullpen.

#18: Chat

Hitting Rank: 18th
Pitching Rank: 11th

Notes:
1. I like the offense more than ESPN does.
2. Hitting: The biggest thing holding down Chat is an abysmal OBP. Downright horrible. SLG is pretty bad, too. Lots of speed though.
3. Pitching: Fairly solid across the board, with the exception of ERA.

#17: Boo

Hitting Rank: 13th
Pitching Rank: 19th

Notes:
1. I don't even know how someone would even go about forming a pitching staff this shitty. I guess by waiting 20 rounds before drafting one? And you'd think the bats would be stronger if the pitching sucks so bad. But, no. At least he has some Astros on his team...
2. Hitting: Lots of POP, but a low OBP.
3. Pitching: Just a giant collection of horseshite.

#16: Clams

Hitting Rank: 17th
Pitching Rank: 12th

Notes:
1. Not the kind of team I really expect from Clams. Nothing really sticks out that says "playoff team."
2. Hitting: Terrible OBP, but decent speed.
3. Pitching: Not great in anything, but decent in most cats. ERA and K/9 could use some work.

#15: Gyno

Hitting Rank: 11th
Pitching Rank: 17th

Notes:
1. It looks like ESPN doesnt like Giraffe's team as much as LE does. Looks like his middle IF is dragging his rating down on offense, and ESPN pretty much shat on the back end of his pitching staff.
2. Hitting: Lots of power, with decent speed to go along with it. OBP brings rating down a bit.
3. Pitching: Not having any bullpen is a huge reason this ranking is so low. Luckily, thats only one cat that is seriously affected, although a decent pen can certainly help the ERA, WHIP, and K/9 numbers a bit.

#14: MrWiseGuy

Hitting Rank: 8th
Pitching Rank: 18th

Notes:
1. Another team that waited too long to pull the trigger on pitching. Only one pitcher ranked in the top 50 among all pitchers, and its a reliever (Betances)
2. Hitting: Pretty decent all the way around. Not super elite in any category, but no category is killing him either.
3. Pitching: No bueno. The only category where this staff isn't downright horrific is WHIP, and even its just maybe middle of the pack.

#13: Lester Earl

Hitting Rank: 16th
Pitching Rank: 7th

Notes:
1. I like the bats way more than ESPN does, although having Yunel Escobar as a starter on my team would make me want to drink bleach.
2. Hitting: Steals are bringing the ranking waaay down. Dead last among the 20 teams. Good POP though, which leads to a decent SLG.
3. Pitching: Pretty solid. Strong in ERA, K/9, and S+Hd.

#12: Rondo

Hitting Rank: 6th
Pitching Rank: 15th

Notes:
1. I can't imagine having to watch 40 players drafted in between picks. I bet it sucked. That being said, I can't think of a better person for it to happen to. frick him. He will probably sneak in as the 8th seed and make it to the finals.
2. Hitting: Good job with OBP, HR, RBI, R. Steals are an issue.
3. Pitching: Pretty weak, although ESPN really hates a lot of his dudes. Decent bullpen.

#11: OneMoreTime

Hitting Rank: 7th
Pitching Rank: 13th

Notes:
1. This team kinda reminds me of teams I end up having after a few years in a keeper/dynasty league. Not a lot of super elite players, but a shite ton of solid guys. There are some issues though.
2. Hitting: Gonna score a ton of runs.
3. Pitching: Lots of innings eaters, which is actually good in a league like this. Unfortunately, K/9 is a category, and OMT sucks at it. ERA is pretty meh as well, and the bullpen is subpar.

I appreciate the effort

But there is no way there are 10 better hitting teams and 16 better pitching teams than mine

I haven't looked at ESPN projections but they must be ridiculous

#10: RollDatRoll

Hitting Rank: 4th
Pitching Rank: 14th

Notes:
1. Another bat first, arms second kinda team. Lots of those in this league it seems.
2. Hitting: Outstanding in every cat except steals.
3. Pitching: Another team lacking strikeout power, and WHIP is surprisingly high when you take that into account.

jung-ho Kang will likely be my starter. Ive like some of the projections ive seen on him from people in the know.

from a FanGraphs article today

quote:

However, with the amount of athleticism in his swing and the ability to adjust, it is impossible for me to believe he won’t make at least average contact. Taking the detestable jump into the predictive, with how hard he hits the ball and assuming only average contact and strikeout rates, I could easily see him hitting .280 with 25 homers, and that might be conservative.

same guy predicted JD Martinez's breakout last year, as well as Jose Abreu transitioning positively to MLB pitching. We'll see

quote:

Steals are bringing the ranking waaay down. Dead last among the 20 teams.

i always punt steals
