He is.

The play he called at the end of the game was poorly executed. Watching the replay of it, Hornsby made the backside screen so that Martin would get the lob near the rim but when the screen happened, he got caught up against the big man for Kentucky and still ended up with a shot.

If he makes a better screen, Quartermann could have tossed it to Martin near the basket or Hornsby would have rolled off the screen and been more open to turn and shoot.

Not a bad call, poor execution against the best team in basketball.

Fans' opinions on Johnny Jones is founded on more than merely the last play of tonight's game.

Also, you took your explanation of the last set play from someone who responded to Moscona on Twitter. I'm almost certain that's where you got your information.

Every out of bounds play is poorly executed.
That is coaching.
Execution is coaching.

The turned the ball over and over in the last 6 minutes.

LSU couldn't even miss shots because they were turning the ball over and taking poor drives to the lane.

Yeah, screw the players. Let's get rid of all of them since they can't run the plays that Coach Jones draws up game after game. Just think if we didn't have any players, Coach Jones would be undefeated

I agree with you.

We lost by 2 to an undefeated team that is always very good.

I'm really proud of the Tigers. I thought they were going to pull it out but Kentucky has so much depth. It's a pro team that's still in college.

We lost by 2. 2! Nothing to feel bad about at all.

So why did he give the ball to Gray after calling a timeout with 5 seconds left on the shot clock and allowed one of the best defenses in the country to set?

No and I honestly have no clue what you are talking about. I have played basketball from when I was 5 and all the way through High School. I then coached a few seasons of All-Stars and Middle School.

I promise you this breakdown came from me and not copied from someone else. Come on man, I am not that bad a person.

Panic mode. He didn't want to have LSU turn the ball over as they were about to because they were starting to panic.

The play was a simple pick and roll but Mickey was lazy and basically didn't even run the play. He sets the pick and bounces off, it is an easy dunk and probably a free throw from the help coming across the lane to stop him.

Watch it again, it was a good play but Mickey was the reason it broke down. He left his man high and dry instead of rolling to the goal.

Unfortunately we've also lost to Old Dominion, Auburn, Mississippi St., Texas A&M who all suck.

The team has improved all season. Yesterday was their best game. He still doesn't have the depth he needs. Proud of Coach and the team for the effort. And for the fans. That was nice to see.

I hate fans that don't give credit were credit is due! We scored on at least 4 inbound plays last! We also ran offensive sets in the half court that, we scored on!

your missing the point. We shouldn't have lost by 2...or any number. We should have won the game, if not for a total collapse and brain fart on the part of the coaching staff (again) in the last few minutes.

And what did they do? Turn the ball over. If you can't admit that he made an awful timeout and play call there, you are being willfully blind to it.

I had no problem with going for the win and not playing for OT. Wasn't a great look but I can't crush him for that.

But it's idiotic that a) you call a TO with 5 sec on shot clock with less than a min to go and b) your point guard leaves the huddle and has no idea how much time is left on the shot clock. That's inexcusable.

But then again Jones' mentor once told Jose Vargas in a timeout not to shoot and then Vargas ends up with the ball and shoots. So it's not all Jones' fault, I guess.

And we lose to Missouri and Miss St and Auburn. That's the problem. We lose close to all types of teams-great and horrid.

Two straight turnovers without taking a shot. Less than 2 mins left, and a good 30 secs left on shot clock each time. The team is not disciplined and does not understand how to close out a game. (its an LSU thing.. it was like this for as long as I can remember regardless of the coach - daddy Dale included).

I thought Jones did his best coaching ever in the second half on the defensive side of the ball. I don't have any basketball knowledge...but something was giving Ky fits for the better part of the second half.
