D3 was my first Diablo. What's the deal with the seasons?

first of all, let me say i am so sorry. do not judge the series on this crap game.
If you have played WoW at all seasons are the pvp seasons in that. You basically gear up a character and hope to get season exclusive gear, do the loot grind etc. however, the seasons eventually end and you start from scratch over again.

I really like D3 but I also can't compare it to the previous ones.
Yeah I just now started Adventure Mode so I'm nowhere near ready to start from scratch. Now I understand how people put so many hours into these games if they are always starting over.

What's so bad about pre sequel? Is it just more of the same or lesser quality? One of my friends told me it was just more of the same which he liked.

i wouldn't say bad. It's not as polished as 1 and 2 and it feels off while you're playing it compared to 1 and 2 as well. I would say it's a buy, but not at 60.

writing: so far they try to make you like jack, which is awful
environment: you've got to use oxygen tanks to move around on the planet which means you have to always run through random o2 streams shooting up out the moon which is annoying
mechanics: no where near as smooth as 1 and 2. which makes it harder than it needs to be when you're dealing with the zero gravity parts and flying all over the place
gameplay: if you die, at least so far, you get sent back across the damn moon it seems. the save points are off big time
