How did you react when you realized you were making over 100k a year?

Pissed off due to the amount of taxes I was paid. Even more when you pay max amount into SS and medicare.

Happy but I knew my SO and kids would expand their wants too. Now I save only a little more but everyone has lots of new crap.

It felt pretty good to be able to say I make six figures. The wife sure stepped up her bedroom game.

Yep, that 40% tax bracket sucks. Good thing is that I am retired now and don't have that problem anymore.

Ain't all its cracked up to be. Love the tax bracket. Take home sucks. Helps momma stay at home with the kids. I would rather earn less and work less tbh

It was a goal that was nice to reach. But as someone else said, every now and again I wish I didn't have all the responsibility and pressure at work. Plus, all you do is blow past that goal and set your sights on the new goal, 150k. You're never really satisfied and you can't ever go back to the idea of feeling comfortable living off of less. It's a rat race.

The problem was that at 100K or even at 150K and no write offs, one is going to pay big time taxes. There is no way around that.

When I got my W2 this year i shat a brick when I saw that I made in excess of 100k and then cried when I saw I had paid 20k+ in taxes.

I was pumped that it was over 100k ( I get bonuses, so I knew I was close, but hadn't kept track of exactly where I was) but when I saw that much was withheld I died a little in the inside.

More money in investments. I've maintained the same standard of living I had when I made $60k a year, working sucks I just want to stockpile money so I can work a job I enjoy even if it only pays $40k a year.

You take home a bit less than a senior NCO in the military. When you figure in other benefits it's a lot less.

You were paid taxes instead of paying them? Why would that piss you off?
