Bowfishing from a kayak at night during the summer...WYDI?

Buddy and I were wanting to try it and just wondering about doing this in an area with gators.

PSA Guys: you cannot do everything from a kayak. I do not see how bowfishing can possibly be done with any chance of success from a kayak.

I would only out of KC or pro angler.

I could have easily done it from my Pro Angler. At least from a getting there, having a battery and lights, and being able to stand and shoot. It would suck to have to push pole around and/or peddle a bit then stand to see if there are fish.

I think you'd have to use a crossbow to bowfish from a kayak. But if you decide to use a crossbow then you will also have to get meth. Because no able-bodied man should ever use a crossbow; except for meth heads.

FS12t. One morning while duck hunting we saw two nice reds we could have shot so it got us thinking.

I gave it a serious thought last summer. . .
Ended up winning a bowfishing setup and already had a 72w LED spot/flood that I mount on the front of my kayak. Light puts out over 5000 lumens and is pretty darned bright.
I've gone through the marsh at night many times and gotten right on top of the reds; only thing missing was the bow. Ended up selling the bowfishing setup after deciding it wouldn't get much use.

I've seen pictures of it done. Gators wouldn't concern me.

I've seriously put thought into it, I just don't own a kayak. I was going to get a Diablo adios or amigo because they seem stable enough. Have a head lamp and a mounted led light for spotting.

Sounds like too much of a pain for me, even with a KC. Just go from a boat like a normal person, you can drink more beer that way.

Seems like way more work than I am willing to put into bowfishing.

Ok I'll go from the boat I don't have.
I honestly don't see where the work would be. I already paddle around a good bit standing up and it's not difficult. I would just build a stand from PVC to hold the bow and paddle so I don't have to bend down.

That was what I was thinking of doing, or some type of sling system

im not saying you'll be successful but i wouldnt be worried about the gators. they'll stay away generally, and if you have a big push pole i doubt they come any closer than the reach of the pole. people paddle in the dark into alligator infested waters all the time in pirogues.
you'd better have a damned stable kayak and good light setup but i don't see why it wouldn't work. would be kind of neat actually since you wouldn't be sitting in front of an aircraft engine all night.

What about a bulleye instead of a light setup?
