Spam: When was the last time? Was it tasty?
Posted by lsufan9193969700 on 2/7/15 at 10:42 pm01
I have not had Spam since I was 10-12. I am 37...and I cannot remember if it is any good.
Thoughts?

Fry it. Pan fried. It's a treat (pun intended)

I can't remember the last time I ate it, but it was when I was a kid. So probably before color tv, central AC and the merger of the NFL and AFL. I actually remember pan frying it. Classy.
It's actually very popular in Hawaii to this day, you know.

I recently saw a show about popular foods in various places. Hawaii is apparently Spam crazy! I also had no idea there were so many flavors available...

Hawaiians keep it real in honor of those who served by keeping spam on the menu.
The best looking thing I've seen they do is wrap it in seaweed with rice and make a hand roll out of it. I'd like to try that.
I don't think I've ever had spam.

I recall it being okay, along with Vienna Sausages, potted meat, and the like. Have not had any in a few decades.
I remember that Underwood deviled meat stuff having commercials on TV when I was a kid.

I had it a few weeks ago. Pan fry it then put some brown sugar on it then make a sandwich out of it

Never. Will become a vegeterian before eating canned meat

Had it last about 15 years ago on a camping trip. We had hiked several miles and by the time we were ready to eat dinner, I probably would have enjoyed tree bark.
Fried and put in between english muffins with cheese. The bread had been smeared with butter and cooked a little too.
It was actually a pretty good little sandwhich.

Let us all join hands, bow our heads and pray that you get to fulfill your elitist attitude your whole life. Hopefully, no natural disasters, including tornados, and certainly not anything life altering like a Katrina will ever interrupt you and yours. I'm sure your veggies would still be good after several days in the heat, uncooked.

Get the low sodium version. The regular is just too salty.
Pan fry and make a sandwich or have it with eggs for breakfast.
BTW, had it about 6 months ago.

I was in the Army in Korea in 1987. We would take cans of Spam on field exercises to eat with ramen so we wouldn't have to eat some of the truly awful MREs that were available back then.

It was in 1962. It was a major upgrade from what my mom usually made. Livercheese:

Pan fried. Mmmmm

I concur, when the cupboard and fridge are slim on goods, a slice pan fried and crispy around the edge placed on bread sure does hit the spot.

Last time?
Maybe a year ago ... Maybe two years ago.
How was it?
Delightful!
Did you know it is the state meat of Hawaii?
Makes a fine sandwich on toasted bread with onions, mustard, chips and a beer.
I have photo documentation if needed. I can never tell if I am trusted here.
It's the whole "Old Fart" thing and all.
