Arrive late, leave early and complain about the average fan that stands up to cheer on his home team. I witnessed several 65-75 year old LSU basketball ticket holders last night get angry when avid fans would stand up to cheer on the Tigers. very frustrating to see this. I take it these old folks were aggravated that they couldn't see the game clearly with entergetic fans standing in front of "their view". I also witnessed many of these old folk leave before the game ended. Give your tickets to your children, family, or friends if you don't want to enjoy the game!!

Ban everybody over the age of 30 from going to the games?

Lol not exactly. Just the grumpy old folks that don't cheer and that get aggravated when fans stand up and cheer in their View.

Two old men below me got angry at a Guy and his girlfriend for standing in their view. I wanted to say loudly "it's a sporting event not a Christmas concert".

Are people incapable of being loud while sitting down?

It's only human nature to stand up and cheer during an event that is exciting. sitting and cheering is like walking and eating. AWKWARD.

The older people are the ones shelling out for season tickets. Without them, we wouldn't be able to afford a great coach like Johnny jones.

I hate the older fans who do that shite. If someone is drunk and disorderly, that's one thing. I told a guy off at the Ole Miss football game for telling my buddy & I to sit down & "disrupting their experience."

You don't like it, don't go. The energy of the student section at athletic events is what leads everyone else and makes our venues what they are. The players feed off of it and find it motivational

I don't think LSU basketball is in any position to get picky about what demographic of fans show up to games. Hell, bus them in from the nursing homes for all I care, but get some asses in the seats. LSU will sell out 1 game this year.

It's just what we're going to have until there's a quality product on the floor, consistently. The majority of season tickets holders have been in their seats since the beginning of the Dale era. There hasn't been any reason for a new generation of fans to put up the money for tickets. For every single game of the year you can buy extremely cheap tickets outside the PMAC, so there is no need to buy season tickets.

Also, with this walk up crowd, you get a lot of casual fans. It's an opportunity for parents to bring their kids. These are often your less passionate fans.

Hopefully we can soon have consistent crowds. With these larger crowds, the energy will rise and you won't notice the older generation of fans.

Arrive late: Do you work and have to travel more than 2 minutes by car through Baton Rouge to be on time for a 6 p.m. tipoff? Easier said than done if you work until 5 or 5:30.

Leave early:
You'll get no argument from me on this. If you know where to park, you shouldn't have too much trouble with postgame basketball traffic. I'll defend leaving early in football but not in any other sport on campus.

Stands up to cheer on his home team: Why do you need to stand to make noise? The sight of you standing makes no noise. You can yell your lungs out while sitting down, and we encourage all the noise you can make. Wish the team would give the fans more reason to make noise. That comes from not wasting possessions and not napping on defense. I didn't pay money to look at your arse and they give me a chair so I can SIT DOWN!

This is nothing new. Back in the early 90's when I was in college we would wait until the geezers would leave and take their seats. Ended up watching many 2nd halfs from the first 10 rows.

It does look bad on TV like last night when you can see all the senior citizens walking out the arena from floor level with 30 seconds left in the game.

The old folks have been leaving games early as far as I can remember, and I started going to LSU basketball games as a 4-year-old in the mid-70s.

Even when the game is still in doubt, the exodus usually starts on the first dead ball of the last minute. I never understand that, and I'm not sure I ever will. Why come to a game and leave before it's really decided?

The other stuff I understand a little bit more. Good luck to you if you work outside the LSU area and get off after about 4:30. You have to fight the traffic and try to find a parking spot. What if you have child care to try to manage? A 6 p.m. tipoff is tough on that.

A 7 or 8 p.m. tipoff shouldn't see a bunch of people arriving late, but LSU has no control over the 6 or 8 p.m. tipoff in league play. They're at the whim of the SEC for its network purposes.
