I find it very odd that Jamauria Rasco and Ronald Martin aren't on this list.

Let's not forget Rich Eisen's 40 yard dash.

I find that very odd as well. they were respectable players on a top tier team.

Yea instead we have to tolerate "gems" from 1-AA taking their spots.

I'm surprised by that too.

Ronald Martin has good size and plays the pass well. He can match up well with TEs and big receivers at the next level. Plus, I think he was very underrated in terms of his communication skills, and playing a key role in making calls for the secondary. I think he really earned Chief's trust in that regard.

From a production standpoint, maybe you shouldn't. Let's begin this discussion by noting that he was a good four year player for LSU and the type of player that forms the backbone of a successful program.

Now, with that HUGE caveat out of the way, let's look at his production:

LINK

He played in 35 games. He finished his career with 10 sacks. The most he had in a year was 4. That's one sack per 3.5 games. Combine that with his usage early in his career as a mustang/pass rush specialist, his impact wasn't really big from a pro prospect perspective.

So since the invited played I-AA, thostwo are automatically better?

Honestly, Tasco was average at best. Nowhere near the hype coming out of high school. Close to a bust considering his ranking. Yeah, I said it

I don't mean all guys outside of 1-A suck, but thriving as a player in 1-A SEC football should probably mean more, and some of these NFL scouts just assume they know better. And yes, I'm not giving scouts any credit. I'm a saints fan, they get it wrong more than they get it right.

Those in the knkw don't think they will be drafted

NFL scouts and player personnel people. They dole out the invites and every potential draftee is voted on

Yea leaving off Rasco and Martin is odd.

Especially consideing Martin was a semi finalists for the Thorpe Award (1 of 15 in the nation) and was 2nd team all SEC AP this past year. And Martin would absolutely kill the combine and improve his stock. A lot of people forget the type of athlete he is. I mean he played on LSUs bball team his freshman year and has a 40+inch vert. And he overcame a lot of adversity at LSU and had a very strong final year for us.

Here's an article on Martin written by Bama writers... LINK

And in regards to Rasco... Don't get it either. Especially considering he did very well at the senior bowl and had a good year for us. I wasn't really excited about him for this past season because he was very blah 2 seasons ago, but he was improved.

If Martin breaks the 4.55 mark in the 40, he will jump into possibly 6th round. He breaks the 4.5 and he may jump to 5. A tad undersized.

The AP teams are lightly regarded to put it mildly. For instance, the productionless, hype-monster Robert Nkemdiche was named to the AP's first team. The coaches correctly did not place him on any team. Those discrepancies happen all the time. The AP's teams are tainted by confirmation bias paired with a lack of expertise (especially regarding line play).

Since when is 6'1 218lbs undersized for a safety?

So?

Most All Conference lists will have some biased opinions and what not.

He still was 2nd team All SEC.

And he finished tied for 3rd on the team in tackles, tied for 1st in INTs, lead the team in passes defended, and tied for 1st in forced fumbles. Stat wise, he was 1 of the better safety's in the SEC this past year.

On the AP's list. He was unfortunately omitted from the more important list.

what?

Do you know how many starting safety's are that size in the NFL? About 5. Not sure what you've been watching on Sundays...

And espn did a study last year that showed the average combine by players at each position. The average size for a safety in the combine the last 5 years was 6-0 1/4 and 208lbs.

He's bigger than that.

Unless he lost a good amount of weight, he should be taller and heavier than that at the Pro Day.

Ok man... Heck of a fan you are. Undermining the fact that Martin was a 2nd team all conference player... But since it was AP, it's not real and doesn't matter
