Some friends of mine want to head to N.O. this weekend for a night or two and are wondering how crowded things will be. Does it usually start to get crazy busy this early?

Thought so... think we'd have a hard time getting in to Peche or similar restaurants around NO?

Call now for any reservations you want. Probably too late, but you might get lucky.

It will not be crazy crowded this weekend, but will be pretty full in the quarter. Not a bad crowd. The trash shows up more next weekend.

Just call for a reservation and see. You'd need one anyway.

going down tomorrow evening on a party bus. pretty much dreading it but the weather looks nice. I'm sure it'll be crowded with that being the case.

Not a big wkend for the Spring Breakers from up north, a bit early, but it will still be crowded, especially as the weather is supposed to be great. With the exception of those in & immediately around the Quarter, most restaurants are not going to be over loaded necessarily. But you need to be conscious of blocked off traffic in a lot of areas around the city. The city paper has all the parade routes & traffic info.

I'm thinking about visiting for 10 days or so for Carnival (haven't been in a few years) but want to work while I'm down there.

So if anybody knows anyone that needs a pinch-hitter bartender - Let me know. I've worked all around the FQ over the years but most of the places have closed over the last couple years (except for Pat Os and Tropical Isle and they are fully staffed already).

it shouldnt be that bad. no on cares about this weekend of mardi gras. Getting in restaurants would be tough regardless, waiting this late

Crowded - only Cork is going today in the FQ, but you have a shite-ton of Uptown parades this weekend and they will draw a good bit.

Mardi Gras has turned into a 21st Century festival - from a size and scope standpoint, and New Orleans has a 19th Century infrastructure - that only compounds the problem for this event, and to a lesser extent Jazz Fest.

(But, yeah, crowded - not as crowded as next weekend, but bad enough.)
