4 more days to go...

Here's something you guys might enjoy in the meanwhile: Longest 6 (home run) in cricket

143 meters/156 yards/470 feet. A monster hit even by baseball standards. The best part is the guy who hit the ball ( Brett Lee) is primarily in the side as a bowler (pitcher) and bats way down the batting order. He was also considered to be one of the fastest bowlers in the game. This is what he usually does with a ball in his hand - LINK

Really cool sport once you get used to the rules. Pretty easy to understand once you start watching.

Zimbabwe have looked impressive in their warmups (though don't read too much into warmups).

Bowled well against NZ - as good as anyone right now in ODIs - before the rain came. Then chased down Sri Lanka yesterday.

NZ stomping South Africa was incredibly impressive, even for a warm-up. Wouldn't shock me at all to see Australia vs NZ in the final. So dumb they are in the same group.

Alright here we go:

Hosts New Zealand have put up a huge total (331) batting first in the opening match of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Sri Lanka have a big chase on their hands.

Match Scorecard - Many video highlights from this match at this link.

If anybody wants to watch the match live, search for "crictime" in Google. Select the .to domain.

India vs Pakistan starts at 9:15 pm CST tonight. Tickets sold out in 15 minutes at the ground. It will be one hell of a match. If you can only watch one game this world cup, it should be this one. The atmosphere will just be unbelievable!

The biggest and most hostile rivalry in all of sport. Pakistan has never beaten India in the World Cups. India is 5-0 against their arch nemesis.

You can stream it on your iPhone or iPad here.

I clicked on the espn link in your 1st post and it took me to the stream. The quality was great so I decided to hook up my laptop to the tv.
Now it is asking me to buy the WC for $99 and won't start the stream.Do you know why?

I am surprised that you were able to stream it without a subscription. I think you just got lucky there for a second. ESPN wants you to pay $99 for the subscriptiom to the whole tournament.

Try crictime.to. Or smartcric.com if you are on an iPad or iPhone.

Only got to watch the highlights. But Virat Kohli

One thing I never liked about cricket is how there is only one batting opportunity for a team. There is no back and forth suspense like in baseball. Still it's a pretty fun sport.

Thoughts from yesterday:

-Zimbabwe going to cause problems. Really had it in their grasp, but helluva show by Miller and Duminy to rescue them. It literally took a world-record stand to get past Zim.

-India getting back into form - Virat Kohli is incredible. Once again, really inconsistent batting at the top of the Pakistan order. Misbah is as consistent as they come, but he is not the game-changer that can single-handedly win a match. Raina really put on a fine display batting up at 4.

Curious to see WI today against Ireland. WI as vulnerable as they've ever been and many think they won't get out of the group. But Ireland got mauled by Scotland in a warm-up match. Intriguing game between a couple of outsiders.

wow what is up with the crazy bright Ireland uniforms?

almost as loud as the Pakistan kits.

I accidentally posted the same thing in the 'prediction' thread, but it was meant for this one.

Ireland have WI on the ropes right now. But so much firepower in this order if their head is right. Doubt a stand like we saw with South Africa against Zimbabwe.

It was looking pretty bad for WI but Simmons and Sammy did well. Got over 300 runs which was looking doubtful early.

Don't know much about Ireland though.

Lol. They are, aren't they? And how about that upset win over the West Indies? The West Indies team has been in shambles since the mid 90s. They ruled the cricket world from about 1970 to 1995. They were absolute kings and everyone feared them. Then all their best players retired and the team has never been the same again. They just weren't able to reload. It is quite sad really.
