Just some background...maxing out Roth contributions. Putting money into 401k. Throwing $150/month into some mutual funds (NW Mutual handles my Roth and the mutual funds).

About to be making a good deal more money. Don't think I will exceed the $116,000 limit for Roth contributions. However, want to put some money where it will do better than sitting in a checking or savings account. Any recommendations?

Note that NW Mutual tried to get me to do either perm/term insurance. Dropped it because I was stuck paying for 10+ years until I made money on it. I'm looking for something more liquid/flexible.

Ally has 0.85% return on their savings account I believe. Other than that look at short term bond funds.

You won't get rich investing on either of those, but you wont be risking it too much either.
