As many as 80 million customers of the nation's second-largest health insurance company, Anthem Inc., have had their account information stolen, the company said in a statement.

The hackers gained access to Anthem's computer system and got information including names, birthdays, medical IDs, Social Security numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses and employment information, including income data

This is a Blue Cross Blue Shield company but not associated with BCBSLA

Formerly known as WellPoint, they've recently gone through a systems upgrade to update their records, platforms, etc.

Technically not major IT work, but it could have perhaps left some vulnerabilities.

I'm curious if this affected only current customers or even older records. It might be difficult to get in touch with those people.

If you like the level of security from your Healthcare Provider, you can keep it.

Thanks Obama.

They will be required to notify all that are affected. That will be hugely expensive on it's own. They will also work with a Life Lock type company and offer that type of help to all that want it for free.

Oh, the fines will likely be huge. Obama about to get paid.
