Has it been discussed that this guy is likely the best Center in basketball?

The guy is finally getting 28+ MPG and putting up some nasty numbers

Will not be able to produce like he is over an 82 game season. (at least I don't think so)

and no, not the best center.

Who is better? I like using PER as a good baseline

If he continues to get 25+ mpg, his 3rd place PER rating will only climb

How about guys who have played more than 10 total NBA games?

Although not impossible, regression to the mean makes this unlikely.

If Whiteside was the best Center in basketball, the Heat would have a much better record, considering they have Bosh, Deng, McRoberts, and Wade (though often injured). Whiteside has great stats, but it hasn't been translating to wins in a shitty East.

You may be right...I'll have to revisit this later in the season to see if the dominance continues

He could be the best but don't forget what Jeremy Lin did when he got his shot....

I bet you were calling Roy Hibbert the best center in the game not too long ago too.

I love this story. I mean the guy was in the D league a month ago and now he's undeniably one of the best Centers in the League.

I'm not gonna say he's the best center in the league or anything, but he is seriously good. I think if the Heat trade for a point guard, they could make themselves a threat in the east.

I think he is one of the best centers in the league. I don't think the statement is that outrageous. And it is not like the league is stacked with amazing centers.

His rebounding + blocks aren't a fluke. His scoring may be, but we don't know that yet.

I'm really interested in why he didn't work out in memphis. How does a player so dominant go from nothing to this:

he's been pretty good.

but 12/10/3blks as a starter wont make him the best C in the league
