The Koto on College Dr., what was that building before it became a Koto?

On a side note, at the College Dr. location, I spoke to Derek Chang for about ten minutes after lunch one day. At that time, he said he had plans to move the restaurant near the Country Club of BR. Obviously, that never happened.

I recall the restaurant not having much business, just a handful of loyal customers. I couldn't understand how he kept the place open. But then he mentioned that someone was going to help him relocate the restaurant. It became clear that he had access to a lot of money, indirectly at least, and he wanted me to know it. Anyway, it seems to me that a lot of these Asian restaurants have connections back home that offer financial support.

I've always been curious about the behind the scenes inner workings of Asian run businesses. Can anyone shine light in this area for me?

I can't answer any of that because I have no idea what you're talking about, but Koto in the new location seemed to be doing fine.

I've waited over 20 minutes for a table in there more than once. A regular table. Not the group show thing those places have, which I know usually have a wait depending on how many people are there to fill the table.

Some of them tap into funding related to the local nail salon guy. Can't recall his name, but he has stores in Wal Marts across the us and also runs a very large wholesale supply business. One of the biggest local businesses you never heard of so to speak.

I think I heard the space was going to be a new German Restaurant.

Yeah, I guess I wasn't clear.

Before the current location, Koto use to be located on College Dr. I was trying to recall what was located there on College Dr. before Koto showed up.

Pretty sure that was a subtle way of referring to this thread as Germans, but I could be mistaken

Was it Romano's Macaroni Grill?

It was. Former Macaroni Grill locations seem to be cursed. I remember the one in Lafayette was ever changing.

I think his question was in reference to the location on College.

If I remember correctly, in the 80s the building was a Huttle House or something similar to the Shoney's that was near the RR tracks.

Nope. The Pelican House is in the old Macroni Grill location.

And as someone already mentioned, I was talking about Koto's old location on College Dr. I can't recall what was located there before Koto's.

But to add to the confusion, I now can't recall what was located in Koto's current location. Damn.

It just hit me. I'm pretty sure the most recent Koto's (in Citiplace) was a Damon's Grill ( website).

But I ain't having no luck remembering what was located at Koto's old location on College dr.

There was a Damon's Grill there, was that the original restaurant or was there something else also?

O'Charleys? O'Somehtingelse?

I'm pretty sure Koto on College was some kind of 24-hr breakfast place

And weren't all 3 (Macaroni, Whatever, On the Border) all owned by the same conglomerate and built at the same time?
