If presented with a source 3NF data model that consisted of customer, order header, order line, and product tables and a dimensional target model consisting of customer and product dimensions and an order fact; how would you go about reconciling the target to the source?

What do you mean when you say 'reconciling' the target to source? Are you trying to make sure all products and customers are accounted for as members in the respective dimensions?

Assuming these are standard dimensions (not SCD), I truncate and rebuild the dimension tables each time I process. This is the most efficient way to ensure all dimension members are accounted for. Incremental updates can get very messy.

After you build the dimension table, you can compare the row counts (using primary key) to validate that all members are present.
