Are they all depressing? I was more in the mood for a thriller or something.

I've never seen 7 years in Tibet but I've heard its good. Seen the other 3. Cold Mountain is good but can drag. English patient is meh and Philadelphia is about AIDS so it's a little depreasing.

Lilya 4-Ever is 1000X more soul-crushing than those movies.

For some reason, IMDB just recommended I watch "Traffic Crossing Leeds Bridge" ( LINK ) Maybe you can check it out and let me know if it's any good?

Sorry I'm late to the party but, at least The English Patient has Kristin Scott Thomas in the el nude. That alone makes it worth it. It was an Oscar winner but a long movie. The others are meh...

Philadelphia is probably the best movie out of the 4.

Philadelphia is probably the best movie out of the 4.

+1 The subject matter isn't the most stimulating, but if you like great dramatic acting, both Hanks (Oscar) and Denzel Washington (nominated) are terrific. Also has Jason Robards, JoAnn Woodward.....

If you are into that genre of movie, I'd go with Dodgball.

Watch Short Term 12.

If you have to pick one of those 4. My pick would be Cold Mountain.

7 years in Tibet was a decent movie. I'm glad I watched it but doubt I would sit through it again.
