Seems to have worked pretty well in Japan and Germany. Hell, even Vietnam is peaceful these days. Precision bombs leave too many of these bastards still standing.

Wait...why are you wanting to kill civilians again?

Did I miss something?

Oil is $40 a barrel. No need to upset anyone.

I would rather get rid of our involvement altogether with that part of the world

Fire bombing is where it's at.

Seems like something Obama would have on the top of his list.

No kidding. fricking Islamic extremists will be beheading people until the end of time. There is literally zero point in killing thousands of civilians and turning more people into Islamic extremists.

Enjoy sub-$2 gasoline and chill the hell out

While it was the use atomic bombs that have been credited for forcing Japan to throw in the towel, it's an unavoidable fact that even after we'd run out of viable targets to bomb in Germany, they still refused to surrender and fought literally until the Soviets and Western Allies ground forces ran into each other in the middle of Germany. This despite the fact Germany suffered a far more sustained bombing campaign than did the Japanese. The lesson here is that strategic bombing of cities can influence a war but not win it outright unless you're willing to look at using nuclear weapons.
