A photo of a poster at a weekend event for Baylor football prospects that went viral raised the hopes of Waco diners, for the most part falsely.

The poster, made by members of the school’s athletic staff and displayed for junior recruits over the weekend, says six new restaurants or food stores as well as a hotel will be coming to Waco soon.

A photo of the poster went viral on Facebook on Saturday and Sunday, leading thousands of people to believe the restaurants were a done deal.

But only two of those have agreed to terms with the city.

I wonder what recruits base their decision on if they can get some Alligator bites down the road at Pappadeaux's or not.

They also showed images of Dallas as well

Dallas is a good 1.5 hour drive away

I wonder if LSU recruits by showing images of New Orleans, or A&M does it by showing images of Houston

It's one of the only two from that poster that actually has plans to build there.

I know a couple of those have already started progress. The rest may be in the works but not finalized.

Waco doesn't need In N Out, got Whataburger and Torchies right off campus.

I see that haha. They can't build one in the Seattle area but they can go to Waco?

Grinds my gears.

I stop at that Whataburger off I-35 right across from Baylor's campus each time I head that way

It has to be within a certain radius of their meat processing plant

Since there is one in the Dallas area, and they already have In N Outs in DFW and Austin/San Antonio area, why not have one in Waco that is between the 2.

I think that just speaks to how few things they have in their city - if an In and Out Burger makes a noticeable impact on your social scene things are pretty bleak

This is true, but I just don't know if I'm 18 if that matters. I can get cookies somewhere else

Just seems like a weird story

Waco ain't much. We have to sell that we are close to major cities, we can't actually sell living in Waco.

Not much in Waco but it isn't the worst college town.

I mean you have to have some good watering holes/junk food spots. It's just what a college has
