Well gee we think it can't get worse than "0-2" as Smitty be gone and all you know.

What do you think Dan Quinn will bring to the NFC South
It sure won't be Richard Sherman or Earl Thomas.

Though if they can find the money, they could get Byron Marshall. Could.

I'm not worried about Quinn's knowledge or ability to build up their team though. Bring it on.

We need to see...does he have a history of having a good defense no matter what, ala rex ryan?

We'll see if he knows how to scheme and coach up players, or if he was the beneficiary of brilliant drafting in Seattle

Because firing a 67-49 coach for a 50-52 coach who is a walking media disaster is the way the Falcons franchise needed to go. Especially after the Mike Vick and Bobby Petrino clusterfricks. Go hire a guy that posted an internet ad asking for a random dude to stick a big dick in all three of his wife's holes. Brilliant.

I never got over the foot thing. I'd have been embarrassed had we hired a Ryan.

I can't promise a SB with Dan Quinn but by God, I'm excited again!

I'm using Rex as an example of a guy who no matter where he is has an awesome defense. Is Quinn that guy or someone who benefitted from immense talent

I don't know. I can't criticize or praise the hire

The other thing is you've always got to be wary of coordinators who come out from under a head coach whose area of expertise is on their side of the ball. Carroll is a defensive-minded guy so we're not exactly sure how much autonomy Quinn had in that situation and how much of that defense was actually Pete. Now if I had to guess, Pete strikes me as more of a motivator/CEO-type HC who let's his coordinators coordinate but we have no way of knowing for sure.

I think Pete does have one of those mentalities where he lets his coaches coach (like their last play of the superbowl, Id put money on the OC calling that play), however, the defense was pretty good when he came back to Seattle to take over as DC.

But the opinion from seahawks fans is that the front 7 was all a product from Quinn. They describe their front 7 before Quinn as mediocre, and seeing a huge change in production when he came back. I think the secondary is Pete's baby though.

The craze to hire the best coordinator rarely works

Sean Payton and mike McCarthy came from two mediocre offenses (Dallas and San Francisco) but those two units were hopeless before they arrived

Romeo crommel? Not a good coach.
Jack del rio? Mixed success. When he had Mathis and Henderson they were studs on defense

We'll see, but I'm not thinking "oh frick they hired Dan Quinn"

Also, Ryan had the in on the Atlanta joh but didn't want to wait. Buffalo offered first.

I would have been sick if Atlanta hired Ryan so good news

Rumor is that he was using the buffalo trip to get the falcons to send an offer quick, but we didn't send him anything so he went ahead and took the bills job.

I think it was said his order of who he wanted most was 1)49ers 2)Falcons 3)bills

Would have loved to have seen what Rex could have done with Trufant, but equally excited to see what Quinn will do with our front 7

bills and 49ers have better defensive players, but atlanta is the only one with a good QB.

He might run into the same issue with the jets, having no QB sucks.

Didn't have that big of an "in" then.

If I had 3 once in a generation players on my defense, coupled with Wagner, Irvin, Bennett and Avril, I could also be a pretty good DC.

I am interested to see what he can do starting with nothing.

ETA: He was DC with the Florida Gators from 2011-2012, and joined the Seahawks in 2013 to replace Gus Bradley.

Irvin is also a free agent this year, and I wonder if Seattle will try to resign him if they give big contracts to both Wilson and Lynch
