With all the EE's and early departures, where do we stand for the 85 scholarship limit....who counts back to last year and how many can we actually take in this class????

Great question. No one seems to know. It's gotta be more than 25 though.

Guessing the coaches know and have a plan. Let's sit back and enjoy the show.

The golden rule is, come August, we cannot ENROLL more than 25 players. None of the players we sign in this class can be counted back, including the EE's. That means if we sign more than 25 Wednesday, somebody is going to have to greyshirt or go Juco.

What makes you think we can't count any EEs back to last year? Do we not have room to count back? LINK

Les has always played the numbers very close. 27 would be unusual---but he could talk to the recruits involved and have a couple of gray shirts worked out and make the 27 number work. I, however, have no idea what Les is thinking.

Off-topic:
i don't follow recruiting closely at all--is it just that the general public and media are paying closer attention to recruits these days + people pumping good news after a shite-show season, or is this really a once-in-a-lifetime recruiting season? It seems like a kick-arse headline a day lately!

That article and the loopholes is the reason why people need to not even worry about numbers anymore. Too many ways to get around the so called "hard caps". Its become ridiculous to be honestly.

I'm on the record for years as having no issues with over signing whatsoever. College football is a billion dollar business and each major school a multimillion dollar business with coaches paid in the multi millions. They should be able to manipulate the rosters however they see fit to be at 85. I hear all the talk of student athletes and education but that stuff is secondary to the money and success these days.

Of the NCAA really wants to stop over signing or roster manipulation then they need to make rules that can't be loopholed. They can do it but they choose not to. Why? Something tells me they enjoy this conversation every year.

I really don't think they'll be any greyshirts. They'd enroll in January and count against the 2016 class. That class is so loaded I'd hate to see space taken up with lower ranked kids or a punter.

No one really knows for sure but it wouldn't make sense. Take the best players you can to get to 25 and let the chips fall where they may.

No, it's just a better end result than many expected going into what was called a down year. Just wait for next year at this time.

We will get to 25. The 85 always works out. Early departures plus transfers and or kids not making grades.

If we are below 85 in august, usually someone who deserves it, gets a scholly that was a walk on.

Just people freaking out way too soon. Last year LA was loaded and a lot of those guys did commitments at all star games.

This is why I've said you got to give Les until 17 to turn it around, last years class plus this year and 16, should be a better run than the 09-11 cycles which resulted in us going undefeated in the regular season.
