...at the time, I'll admit I was disappointed we were involved in a Green trade and didn't end up with him.

Boy I was wrong, QPon is a beast for this team off and sometimes on the court. Him and Cunningham bring a hustle that this team wouldn't have gotten with Green.

he's been shooting terrible but you're right on the hustle. The team definitely needed that dimension

that's why i said sometimes on the court. hahaha his hustle is great, but his shooting can improve. I love these role players, it fits the SA mold very well. Guys that know their job and leave the offense to the franchise, cornerstone, and the wolvereke.

I bet the guy has them believing in winning in the locker room too. That's huge.

Boy you aren't lying

Considering we gave up Rivers/Russ for Q-Pon and signed dante off the pine,I'd say we made out pretty good.

If Q-Pon can get his 3 shot fixed(maybe being a starter will help?) This'll be a steal imo.

I didn't want Gren. He demands the ball too much. We have enough scorers. Mew neede that role position the Q plays. Great fit.

I have heard AD mention something that Q-Pon has said in multiple post game interviews. He has definitely given this team a boost of confidence.

No Boston needed him to have the ball and to score.

He has been amazing so far in Memphis as a 4th or 5th option.

SO you'd still rather QPon over Green?
QPon has been a great add, but you can't honestly think we are better off with him instead of Green? That being said, i don't know what we would have had to give to get Green, considering what we gave up for Q, i liked the trade too.

Yes, but that's more an indictment of the roster make up than anything. QPon's intangibles for this young and unproven team trump the fairly decent gap in offensive production from Green. Not to mention the $$$ difference.

I do agree with all of this, but intangibles/leadership has really given QPON more value than he would normally have on paper. He is constantly talking to the guys when he's on the court. We finally found that fiery vet to replace Morrow.

Interesting stats here and obviously 3pt percentage and FG% do not tell the whole story but here you go:

Jeff Green (2 years, $9.2 mil)
Celtics: 43.3 FG% (206 of 475); 29.0 3PT% (45 of 155)
Since the trade
Grizzlies: 40.8 FG% (40 of 120); 31.5 3PT% (12 of 38)

Quincy Pondexter (3 years, $3.1 mil)
Grizzlies: 29.6 FG% (40 of 150); 23.2 3PT% (17 of 73)
Since the trade
Pelicans: 36.0 FG% (27 of 74); 29.6 3PT% (8 of 27)

Not saying that QPon is better than Jeff Green but when I noticed these stats (on top of the leadership and defense QPon brings) it became very difficult to see any negative in the acquisition of QPon even at $3.1 mil a year

These numbers are actually pretty good if you take in to account that I think he missed every damn jumper he took in his first 4 games here.

I am just surprised he isn't a better shooter because he is amazing from the free throw line (only missed one so far in Memphis).

Would be such an amazing role player if he just got that 3PT% up to the 37-42% range

I'll take him for what he is, a limited SF that brings playoff experience and veteran leadership. Anything more than what he's been doing since he's gotten here is extra.

Oh for sure. I just mentioned that because you add that to his current game and I think you have one the better role players in the league.

It is why we were all drooling over him after his series against the Spurs in the WCF.
