Why don't we use the metric system?

Our American system of measurements is incredibly stupid.
5280 FT in a mile is a dumb measurement.
Pounds are dumb.
The gallon is fricking dumb.
Just because the Romans came up with these measurements doesn't mean we should keep using them.
Hell, those stupid bastards lost to barbarian tribes.
Why do conservatives want to keep us behind the rest of the world?

Not all europeans use metric in all regards. I know the British use some non-metric stuff. I asked them when they use that and when they use metric and they couldn't explain it. I fricking hate metric though and I think it's silly.
