Things to do in Eastern Europe

I'll be holidaying in Eastern Europe in two week and looking for things to pass time.
I already have my places to stay booked and will be staying in the central areas of each city.
My trip starts with one night in Istanbul, 5 nights in Prague, 3 nights in Vienna, 5 nights in Budapest then ending the trip with 2 more nights in Istanbul.
I plan on drinking a lot of cheap beer and eating local cuisine along with site seeing. When in Vienna I was hoping to check out a concentration camp, does anyone know of there are any ones to visit that's not to far from the city center.

The exchange rate in Bratislava is insane.
Also, they're supposed to be getting a rail system soon!

I looked into Slovokia but was told not to waste my time.

quote:Monty Python once made a TV special in Germany. When they arrived in Munich they were immediately driven by their tour guide to Dachau -- I guess Germans figure everybody wants to see it.
I was hoping to check out a concentration camp
Unfortunately they arrived late and Dachau was closed. Their tour guide argued with the Dachau security guard but he refused to open up for them.
The tour guide regretfully told the Pythons there was no way they could get in. To which Graham Chapman replied:
”TELL THEM WE’RE JEWS!”

--When you are in Prague make sure you tell everyone how much you like German beer.
--Have a couple shots of Becherovka in Prague.
--Have a kolache in Prague
--When you see the Atomic Clock in Prague, don't look at the clock, look at the people looking at the clock before it all starts up. There will be hundreds. It's awesome.
--In Budapest, drink the Tokaji.
--In Vienna go to Demel and get a "shockobombe".
Beers to drink:
Vienna: Stiegl Pils, Ottakringer, Trumer Pils
Prague: Krusovice, Budweiser Budvar, Kozel
Budapest: Dreher, Pauwel Kwak
Get a street sausage on a bun with mustard every day. It's kind of like eating gelato in Italy.
Prague is beautiful at night, as is Budapest.
Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited.
Go see a classical music performance in Vienna. Visit St. Michael's in Vienna as well. Visit one of the many major museums in Vienna.
Visit Heroes Square and then the museum in Budapest.
Take a boat ride on the Danube.
Sit in Wenceslas square in Prague and watch people for a while.
There are a million things to do.
You are going to have a great time.

"holidaying"?
Who are you, a long-lost Romanov cousin? Take the cure at a spa. Meat Elena von Hapsburg vom Holstein and waltz the night away in Salzburg, Ivan.
"things to pass time"?
Learn to quickly solve a Rubik's cube?
Seriously, have fun there, that's a great place on the planet, they like Americans (generally) people with money (generally) and most of them speak at least some English (generally).

No way i'd hit up Eastern Europe and not make my way to Istanbul. No way.
eta: I'm lazy and didn't read the OP, my bad But smart move to spend some time in Istanbul.
I swear just a couple days ago Egg made a thread on Europe and I mentioned a: Vienna, Budapest, Bucharest, and highlight would be Istanbul. Prague would be awesome if you could swing it.
Also some Kiev would be amazing just not sure right now with the Russian bullshite.
Maybe Krakow if you want to do concentration camps. Poland would be where you would want to go and I heard it was BEAUTIFUL if you want to spend a day backpacking.
You the outdoors'y type, check out Ljubljana or Zadar if you looking for a day or two on the Adriatic.
I'm soooo damn jealous.
Me and my next girlfriend are traveling our asses off.

Kudos to you for not trying to fit in 10 places in those 16 days, just to say you've been there.

Istanbul: Find a hookah cafe and have at it. The locals look like they are a small forest fire when they use those things.
Wander the Grand Bazaar. The "old" section is piled with stuff. Arabic swords and all that.
If you'd like, there's a boat that cruises the Bosphorus. The bridge lights up all kinds of colors which is neat. There are some bars near the foot of the bridge and the river boat leaves from there.
Take in a Turkish Bath. There's a 500 year old one near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. I got to Google the name but it should come up easy enough if you do it. Relaxing
