Hope it's a false alarm. That being said, gimme about 20 more minutes before you cut that traffic loose. I'll be hitting 85 at Spaghetti Junction shortly, and would appreciate the empty lanes.

I'll bet traffic is a nightmare in that city right now.

Has any suspicious package ever turned out to be legit in this city?
I'm sure we'll blow up some Tech girl's hello kitty laptop bag and earn ourselves a 6 hour rush hour for the effort.

IDK if true but someone posted this on /r/atlanta
would be the most retarded reason to shut down a city ever

Update: a coworker said they saw a Coke can on the bridge with a note that said it's a long-exposure camera. Sounds like someone set up a camera to make an artsy photo of the city and someone else got worried about it and reported it.
I bet the note got blown away ... it's been so windy today.
Supposedly it's been there for at least a week.

That is probably an understatement.

I'm at my office on North Avenue and traffic is gridlocked on the surface streets. Gonna be fun getting home.

Blow it up!
How big is this "package"?
When cities do this for every "bomb threat", it often begs the question: If cities must shut down entire institutions and major thoroughfares, is that not possibly doing more damage economically than if such a "threat" was actually genuine and detonated? If this is a small pipe bomb, as I'm thinking, how could its detonation cause enough damage to warrant closing an arterial highway?
