Would Lee have passed Hatch at some point anyways?

From another discussion talking about how far back the Perriloux situation hurt LSU.

So Hatch isn't a world beater, but he's 3-0 headed into Auburn. Gets the concussion, Lee is thrust into the starter's role, obviously prematurely. But was that the trajectory anyways? Would Lee had overtaken him at some point minus the concussion or broken leg?

I wonder if Hatch had stayed healthy that season, would Lee had the time to develop more before taking over at starter?

This isn't a 1/9 discussion.

Shut up.

Can't we just focus on the current QB shitshow?

Is it really a question whether or not Hatch could have held off anyone? He is our Joe Tershinski III.

Sorry. I assumed a forum was a place of discussion, old or new.

You can go back to whining about Harris/AJ.

Ideally Hatch plays better and LSU goes ~9-3, JL and JJ sit and learn the system. I don't see how JL sitting would have done any more damage to his development than the '08 season did.

Exactly. RP hurt, obviously, but I think Hatch's injuries are just as damaging. Lee was talented. Confidence was his big problem IMO.

Who cares? Baseball season starts next Friday and the basketball team has a chance of making the tourney.

Not to mention, you're talking about something that has been dead for a few years.

This isn't about letting it go. I like taking about anything LSU.

The old timers are going to be upset if we can't discuss anything over a year old.

It was a less-than-ideal situation for all involved (Hatch, JL, Crowton, Les). IMO, Crowton would have used ‘em both in roles throughout the season had Hatch not been hurt. Not too different than what was attempted in ’04 with Randall, Russell (learnt last night that he’s Marshawn Lynch’s relative), and Jimbo. It’s not a bad approach with a young QB to give him a real-time break to let him collect his thoughts.

I also think JL was pressing (or being pressed) too hard his Fr season by the “defending NC role” and a bad defense.

Probably would have. He seemed like he was going to get some playing... and Hatch playing most of that year would have taken a ton of pressure off. Lee comes in next year when most of the great secondary players he faced moved on to the NFL, and he has a great season splitting time in 2009. JJ converts to OLB and we win the championship in 2011. :jump1:

Do you think we should have hired Spurrier instead of Archer?

I was always worried Hatch was going to get killed out there.

Isn't on my mind at the moment.
