The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead on the Rebels and cruised the rest of the way last night at Olympia Field. They were led by senior attackman Hunter Stinson from Lafayette with several goals and assists. The Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season. LINK

It is a club team but I would challenge you to come out and take a look. This team is VERY good and will compete for a playoff spot in their league this season. Every school in the SEC has a club team. Lacrosse is not a D1 sport in the SEC nor is it in most big time programs. However, it doesn't mean that the level of play is that of a traditional club team. If you think this is what you used to see at LSU years ago on the parade grounds then you have no idea what is going on in this program. This team is legit!

Wait, so they just built a field for the sole purpose of lacrosse at the SAC fields and you go play at Olympia?

I hope no more than 6 players went out last night. Because according to the sh*theads at the REC, that's a suspendable offense.

They play at Olympia because they draw a crowd worthy of a stadium and that those fields weren't ready last season so they had no choice but to play there. They also generate funds at Olympia, which they can't do on campus, to help them pay for road trips to play teams such as FSU, Central Florida, and teams in their conference in Texas. LSU only gives them about $3000 to fund their team. Their operating budget is absolute peanuts compared to varsity sports at LSU but you wouldn't know it by looking at the product on the field. The players work during the off season by picking up trash in Tiger Stadium, running concessions in ALex Box, and paying dues of over $1,000 per player to fund their sport. These guys are non scholarship athletes who are truly passionate about their sport and pay to play! They come from programs across the country and from high schools in our state that are relatively new to lacrosse. They also are very talented and don't represent a typical "Club" team. Check them out and you will be proud and impressed that they represent LSU!
