frick that, they're still great.. can't believe Dando is playing the Circle Bar in a couple of weeks...
RHCP for me... thought they were awesome when I was in high school... Then I think Mother's Milk came out when i was starting college and I started not to really care for them.. by the time BSSM came out, it cemented a 25 yr (and running) hatred... to this day, his voice sends me into fits of rage..

I liked the Sex Pistols until they found out where I lived and showed up at my house one night.

Everyone listens to some crap when they are first figuring out their musical tastes. Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit were big when I was in the 11-13 age range. Yeah.

I still "like" the Sex Pistols for what they were... Though I can't say the last time Ive had the desire to put on their music..
But yeah, we've all prob evolved in our taste in music from when we were kids..

Music like the Sex Pistols and other punk has its place and is good for what it is, but it just seems like a lot of it is necessarily tied to the naive, angst teenage years for me. It was great for then. I just think that it's a little immature, and I can't relate to most of it anymore unless it's for feeling nostalgic.
It's still good though, unlike the Limp Bizkit that I listened to because I didn't know any better.

yeah, I still like punk and bands like the Minutemen and Ramones are timeless... I was listening to Dag Nasty earlier this week.. But there is some, that I just never have the desire to listen to anymore... though don't mind it when it comes on, but a lot of the draw was being an angry youth..
Hell, I went to see the Meatmen a few months back and it was awesome!
The older Ive gotten (40s), the more mellow my music taste has become, to a degree.. I still love the rock..

Dude, Siamese Dream is one of the greatest alternative rock albums ever.
Just because Corgan became an a-hole that doesn't mean that their first three albums are any less impact.
"Disarm" is as powerful of a song as you can hope to find from that era.

Staind
Staind seems like the band that everyone thinks it's cool to rag on, kind of like Nickelback.
Regardless of what everyone thinks, Aaron's voice is phenomenal and they are very good at what they do. Break the Cycle is one of my favorite records from the '90s and I own several of their albums.
While they did become obviously more mainstream-friendly as their career went on, they still are cool band to catch live when given the opportunity.

The most obvious answer that came to mind was Lostprophets

Journey, for just a regrettable minute. Never fell for BonJovi and Van Halen thankfully. But Eddie sure could play.
Journey, really? no shame is liking them

I was a fan of Culture Club when the Colour By Numbers album came out. Looking back, I don't have regret liking them but I don't like 'Karma Chameleon' all that much now. I DO have a much appreciation for George O'Dowd's vocals though. Church of the Poison Mind, Time (clock of the heart), Victims, White Boy, and Mistake #3 are all fine songs.

Time to be honest.... I actually owned, and liked Creed's first cd. I was 15 at the time.
The first album is much rougher than anything they did after. The religious imagery wasn't even all that positive as it became in later albums.
And whatever, I can still go back and enjoy a lot of this stuff. I might not play it all the time like Rush, but there is nothing wrong with liking catchy songs.
It's like people who shite on pop music. Do you know how boring going out would be without it? Could you imagine picking up a girl trying to grind to Comfortably Numb? frick that

I went through a box of old CD's from high school and college(late 80's through mid 90's) a few years ago and it was a box full of regrets.
